Hurricane Daisy

The other night, Daisy launched herself at the sliding glass door, pawing frantically. Figuring she had to go pee, I slid the door open… Oh, no! As soon as I did it I recognized the sound of the lawn sprinklers, which had just turned on. She’d slipped past me in the moment it took me to realize what was happening, and all of my commands and pleas that she come back in the house were ignored as she romped from sprinkler to sprinkler, biting the tops of them and running away like a maniac.

When the sprinklers finally switched off, she bounded back in — soaking wet — slid on the tile, then threw herself at the couch a number of times, before finally catapulting onto the The Cop. All of the dark spots on the couch are her failed attempts to get to him. Did I mention he hates getting wet? Still, he let her snuggle up once she’d managed to summit the couch.

And here’s a picture that I suspect pretty accurately illustrates Waylon’s experience of Daisy.

  1. I love this…
The Cop looks really good with his goatee/beard(?)! oooh whee! The last photo made me laugh so hard- she’s a whirlwind!

  2. Framing enlarged photograph of your immediate family (who you see every day) and hanging them in your house probably isn’t part of your aesthetic.

But if it were… holy cow that top pic. All of these are great captures.

  3. Dear Karen

I have commented similary about how great The Cop’s expression is, but often one can’t get through the filters here to blogs hosted by WordPress.

  4. uhm, that one made it :)

  5. The Cop was on special assignment due to his broken finger, so he didn’t have to shave. He loves having a beard. Me, I like his pretty face. :-)

Owl, did I tell you that story about my Mom wanting me to have a portrait of My Gift when she was little? I couldn’t understand it: My Gift was with me pretty much 24/7! The idea of putting a picture of her on the wall seemed totally crazy and hilarious.

  6. Ha! No you didn’t tell me that story. My folks do the same stuff. Kind of the home-decor version of filling your church with a ton of ritual objects.

My shrine in the home shala has a tealight on it. Sometimes Ganesh visits for a day or two, or sometimes a little object from a particular teacher. But usually even the tealight seems like a lot.
