  1. That was great! Autonomy, mastery and purpose…who wouldn’t want to spend their days like that? I had no idea that intrinsic motivation was so rooted in science. I wonder if this guy has written anything?

The candle problem is pretty neat. Function defines the object…framing limits the ideas.

  2. Yes, he’s written a number of books, among them: Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us; A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future; and, Free Agent Nation: The Future of Working for Yourself.

  3. hi Karen
that was interesting, although my mind wandered off the last 1/3. i felt i would take a twist on his theory and apply it to my pet suspicion that the laws of economics that business always follows don’t necessarily always work. my theory is that charging higher for air travel when there is demand, then lowering the price when there is none is not necessarily going to get the airlines more passengers. i bet they could still make money while offering inexpensive travel offers during times of peak demand. that is my pet theory. travel to my country of origin during Xmas is 3 times as expensive as doing so a month from now. it does not have to be.
    hugs
